New Delhi: Congress leader and Trivandrum MP Shashi Tharoor condemned the violence at the national capital by the protesting farmers on the eve of Republic Day. He criticised the act of the farmers that hoisted another flag which they were carrying at the place of Tricolour in Red Fort.
He said that even though he supports the protest, he will not entertain violence. “Most unfortunate. I have supported the farmers’ protests from the start but I cannot condone lawlessness. And on RepublicDay no flag but the sacred tiranga should fly aloft the Red Fort”, he tweeted.
In the farmers violence at Delhi, several police officers were also severly injured and has been admitted to nearby hospitals. Internet has been shutdown at the borders temporarily as part of efforts to re-establish the law and order situation.
