Netizens trend #SuspendRajdeepsaccount in Twitter after the India Today journalist was found guilty of spreading fake news regarding the death of a protestor during the Tractor Rally.
Rajdeep Sardesai had reported that a protestor was shot dead by the police during the violence that erupted in various parts of the Capital city. The news was later proved to be fake after the Delhi police released a CCTV footage which confirmed the death was due to a tractor accident.
A protestor had died in Delhi as the tractor he drived overturned while trying to break the barricadings set by the Delhi police.
It was following this incident that Twitter users started demanding the suspension of Rajdeep’s account. Earlier India Today had taken Rajdeep off-air and had cut his one month salary over unverified tweets.
