Tirupati: In a shocking incident, at least 10 Covid-19 patients died due to alleged interruption in oxygen supply at a ICU ward in Ruia Hospital where Corona patients were undergoing treatment, here on Monday night.
Nearly 130 Covid patients are undergoing treatment in ICU ward at the hospital in which 10 patients died due to interruption in supply of oxygen and some patient’s condition is also stated to be critical, according to hospital sources here.
Tension prevailed at the Covid ward as the patients’ attendees ransacked the furniture and glass panels at ICU ward. The staff said that there was no Oxygen supply for some time due to technical problems.
According to Chittoor district collector Hari Narayanan, the oxygen supply was restored within five minutes after reloading the oxygen cylinder and everything is now normal.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy expressed his shock over the tragic incident and directed the concerned district officials to send a detailed report on it.
He also directed to take immediate steps to restore the Oxygen supply in the hospital.
