Uttar Pradesh government is currently working on war footing to establish 258 oxygen plants in the state, state officials said here on Friday.
The government has also sent proposals for setting up 167 new plants in the state to the Central Government.
The Government plants to have altogether 485 oxygen plants in the state in future, which will end the UP’s dependence on oxygen supply from other states, officials here on Friday confirmed.
It is for the first time in the history of Uttar Pradesh that oxygen plants are being established on such a large scale in the state, thanks to Yogi Adityanath’s initiative and consistent efforts. CM Yogi has also ordered the setting up of oxygen plants in private medical colleges. Oxygen plants will be set up in all those private medical colleges that have been taken over by the government, and which do not have a plant, with the funds allocated for those colleges.
The Yogi Government’s initiatives of oxygen audit and software-based tracking are leading to better outcomes in terms of ensuring an adequate supply of oxygen across the state. At present, all the districts have adequate backup of oxygen in UP. Medical colleges also have oxygen backup for two and a half days. A total of 753 MT of oxygen has been supplied in the state in the last 24 hours. Oxygen is also being given to people in home isolation.
