India’s cumulative vaccination coverage exceeds 19.60 cr

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 19.60 crore, Health and Family Welfare Ministry said on Monday.

As per provisional report this morning, a total of 19,60,51,962 vaccine doses have been administered through 28,16,725 sessions. These include 97,60,444 Healthcare Workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 67,06,890 HCWs who have taken the second dose.

As many as 1,49,91,357 Frontline Workers (FLWs) took their first dose and 83,33,774 FLWs the second jab.

Under the 18-44 age group, a total of 1,06,21,235 beneficiaries were administered their first dose.

In the 45-60 age group, 6,09,11,756 have got their first dose and 98,18,384 beneficiaries their second jab.

According to the Ministry, as many as 5,66,45,457 received their first dose and 1,82,62,665 their second in the more than 60 years old group.

Meanwhile, India reported 2,22,315 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the lowest since April 16 last month, taking the infection tally to 2,67,52,447.

The COVID-19 death toll crossed the grim milestone of 3 lakh-mark, as the country also saw 4,454 more fatalities due to the virus, pushing the toll to 3,03,720. Now, India has become the third country in the world after the US and Brazil to traverse the grim milestone.
