Karnataka Minister for Cooperation S T Somashekar on Monday said that over 30 lakh farmers will get Rs 20,810 crore crop credit loans this year in the state.
Speaking to newsmen here after a meeting with the officials here, he said that 114.70 lakh farmers have achieved surplus targets by way of crop cultivation and the current line “Our farmers’ class should not be disturbed for any reason. The move was taken on the instruction of the Chief Minister that more than 30 lakh farmers should get more loans.
The target for the short term, medium term and long term loans of Rs 15.400 crore to 24.50 lakh farmers is set for 2020-21. Our Apex Bank and 21 DCC Banks have provided loans worth Rs 17,490 crore to 25,93,982 farmers.
Due to the hardship caused by the COVID pandemic,100 per cent exceeded the target, 114.70. Our government has responded to the distress of the farmers, he said.
As many as 21 DCC banks have already been instructed to reach 30 lakh farmers in the current fiscal year at a cost of Rs 20,810 crore.
