Those who criticise UP Model of Covid Management should first take note of its success: State govt

Uttar Pradesh government spokesman and Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Sidharth Nath Singh on Sunday slammed the opposition for criticising the UP Model of Covid Management by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

“Those who time and again question the efficiency of UP Model of Covid management should first take note of its success as Uttar Pradesh has outperformed major other states including Delhi and Maharashtra in curbing Covid cases and deaths,” stated the Cabinet minister in a statement here on Sunday.

Lashing out at the opposition, Singh asserted that the Covid Cases in the most populous state has seen a drastic decline all because of the effective implementation of an Aggressive T3 regime and planned Partial Corona Curfews by the Chief Minister aimed at saving both ‘life and livelihood’ of people.

“It is quite evident from the UP’s COVID figures being reported since the beginning of May that the raging disease has been tamed and controlled,” said Singh.

Furthermore, as major states such as Delhi and Maharashtra have been reeling under the cascading impact of the second wave of coronavirus pandemic that has led to an alarming spike in daily cases, Uttar Pradesh under the visionary leadership of Yogi Adityanath has successfully controlled the spread of Covid-19 in the most populous state.

Replying to the opposition, Sidharth Nath Singh added that, in sharp contrast to UP, Maharashtra reported over 14,000 new cases on Saturday. While the Test Positivity Rate remained at 0.3 per cent in Uttar Pradesh, the TPR was recorded at a high of 16.26 per cent in Maharashtra and 0.68 per cent in Delhi which is 1/10th of UP’s population.

It is noteworthy that even with limited resources as compared to Delhi and Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh has so far tested as many as 5,13,42,537 samples for Covid-19 infection, whereas Delhi and Maharashtra have just undertaken nearly 2.2 crore and 3.60 crore tests, respectively.

With the reduction in fresh Covid-19 cases and a fall in the transmission rate, Uttar Pradesh also recorded a sharp slide in the number of active covid cases.
