Odisha Cabinet today approved a proposal for the construction of new roadways along with major bridges under Biju Expressway with a total cost of Rs 442.02 crore.
Chief Secretary S C Mohapatra said the project will be developed in EPC mode as a four-lane carriageway and will include construction of 17 minor and eight major bridges.
This will not only provide enhanced connectivity in Western Odisha but also provide impetus to the industrial growth and overall economic development in the region.
Passing through the districts of Kalahandi and Nuapada, the 174.5 KM Expressway will boost trade and industrial activity as the state government is parallelly working on leveraging the development of the expressway to develop the Biju Express Economic Corridor through the Industries department.
The total length of the Biju Expressway (Ghtipada-Senapati) in the Nuapada district will be 104.65 KM including six minor and six major bridges.
A 69.85 km long stretch of Biju expressway (Sinapalli- Dharmagarh- Amrapani will be passing through Kalahandi district will have 11 minor and two major bridges, the Chief Secretary said.
