Uttar Pradesh government has inoculated more than 51 lakh people against Covid-19 since the start of the month as part of the Mission June’ campaign, which aims to inoculate one crore people in in one month, ACS Health, Amit Mohan Prasad informed here on Tuesday.

Over 51 lakh doses of vaccine has been given under the massive target, taking the cumulative doses to more than 2.34 crore, he said.

According to Mr Prasad, the current vaccination pace in UP is the highest in the country leaving behind Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Kerala amongst others despite presence of adequate resources.

“Till June 14 we administered 51 lakh doses under the massive target of one crore in one month. By month end, it is expected that we will achieve the target” he said.

The UP government is turning its attention primarily to preventing a possible third wave, with vaccinations being the armour of choice.

So far, the state has administered more than 2,34,12,988 doses of vaccine in the state of which around 1,95,76,091 have been given the first dose and as many as 38,36,897 second doses have been administered.

There are various measures taken by the Uttar Pradesh Government to achieve greater immunity quickly. The latest in the list include the Special Booths for Drivers and Street Vendors that has been started from June 14 with a motive to overcome the vaccine hesitancy among the vulnerable section of the population.

Then comes the Special Pink Booths for Women where women are arriving at large numbers to get their shots of life.

Guardian Special Booths (for parents of children under the age group of 12 years) were set up in each district to protect children from the third wave.
