Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that Delta variant of Covid 19 has been found in the state and the government was taking all the precautions required.
Speaking to reporters, he said, ‘Delta has been detected in Goa, not Delta plus. Screening is underway. Samples are being sent to Pune as there as few labs. We are monitoring the situation. We are taking all the precautions required.’
The Chief Minister said the state government had increased the surveillance at borders as Delta plus was reported in Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra.
Dr Sawant said the state government had allowed private hospitals to set up their facilities along the border with Maharashtra.
Till date, 1,64,957 persons have been found Covid positive in the coastal state out of whom 3008 have succumbed while 1,59,029 have recovered.
