Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his death anniversary saying his commitment towards people will always be remembered.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “Remembering Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his Punya Tithi. His noble ideals, rich thoughts and commitment to serve people will continue to inspire us. His efforts towards national integration will never be forgotten.”
Mookerjee was a politician, barrister and academician, who served as the Minister for Industry and Supply in Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet.
He then quit the Congress and founded Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951, which later evolved into Bharatiya Janata Party.
