A Delhi court on Friday extended the judicial custody of wrestler Sushil Kumar till July 9 in connection with the alleged murder of a young wrestler Sagar Dhankar at Chhatrasal Stadium.

It is alleged that Sushil Kumar, along with his associates, assaulted Sagar Dhankar and two of his friends at Chhatrasal stadium on the intervening night of May 4 and 5, 2021 over an alleged property dispute. Sagar Dhankar succumbed to his injuries.

Police have submitted that Sushil Kumar is the main mastermind of the murder and there is electronic evidence wherein he and his associates could be seen beating Dhankar.

Sushil Kumar was arrested on May 23 along with co-accused Ajay Kumar Sehrawat and is facing the charges of murder, culpable homicide, and kidnapping.

Sushil Kumar and 10 other accused have been arrested by police in connection with the case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mayank Aggarwal after hearing the application of prosecution for extension of judicial custody of Kumar allowed the same for 14 days till July 9.
