New Delhi: Special investigation team of CBI is questioning Christian Michel, the alleged middleman of AgastaWestland helicopter scam. Michel is being questioned in relation with receiving bribe on 3600 crore deal. Michel had an anxiety attack while reaching in CBI headquarters from Dubai and doctors were called. The questioning resumed after doctor’s consultation. Michel was asked about bribes and the documents about the deal.
The allegation is that Christian Michel, a middleman who was working for AgastaWestland and its parent company Finmeccanica,took bribes. Michel was arrested in last February from Dubai.
India made the contract in 2010,when UPA Government was in power.The contract was of 3600 crores for purchasing helicopters for VVIP purposes. Finmeccanica, for getting the contract in favour of them, bribed a sum of 423 crore for Indian politicians. Interrogation began in Italy and India. Allegations pointed fingers on Congress political leaders.
CBI also arrested Air Chief Marshal S P Thyagi,his relative Sanjeev Thyagi,advocate Gowtham Khetan in this case. India cancelled the agreement soon after Italy charged a case.
