New Delhi: Indian athletes left for Tokyo Paralympics today. They were given a warm send off at Indhira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi by officials of Sports ministry, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Paralympic Committee of India (PCI).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur wished the team members on phone. India has high hopes for the team. Officials in the Sports Ministry and coaches for different sports are accompanying them.
In Tokyo Paralympics, this is the largest team ever sent by India. 54 members are in the team and they are participating in 9 different sports. They are aiming a total of 15 gold medals, said Deepa Malik, President of Paralympics Committee of India (PCI) who is accompanying the team.
