Lucknow: Court- ordered survey of the Gyanvapi masjid is concluded . The final phase inspection is being done today. The survey is conducted by a team of lawyers, headed by the court – appointed commissioner. The detailed survey report will be submitted at Varanasi civil court . The fifty two member team has been doing the court-mandated survey led by advocate commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra.
Permission to conduct survey was granted following a suit filed by devotees, requesting to make arrangements to protect the idols and for doing daily prayers at the site. In August 2021, devotees sought an order to worship the idols of Shringar Gowri, lord Ganesha, Hanuman Swami and Nandi. The masjid is located close to the iconic Kashi Viswanath temple, and devotees could not worship before the idols on its outer walls.
The final decision upon the matter will be taken after a detailed study of the survey reports.
