George Fernandes passes away

New Delhi: Former Union Minister George Fernandes passed away this morning. He was 88.

George Fernandes was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for last few years. He was the Defence Minister in the year 1998 and in 2004.

He was born in Mangalore on 3rd June in 1930. He served as the Defence Minister in Vajpayee led Government. George Fernandes oversaw Pokhran nuclear test in 1998. He is the founder of Samatha Party.
