CHANDIGARH: Five people have been arrested on Thursday in connection with the explosion near the Golden Temple in Amritsar late last night. The motive behind the blast was to disturb the peace. A low-intensity explosion occurred near Heritage Street in Amritsar at around 1 am. It is the third explosion that has happened in five days.
The first explosion was on May 6 and the second one was on Monday. The Heritage Street is just two kilometre away from the Golden Temple. As per preliminary report, triggering mechanism has not been used in the explosion. One person was injured in the blast on Monday. The police informed that the explosives were stored in a container.
The NIA and Punjab police have collected forensic samples from the spot. The officers informed that investigation is ongoing in the incident.
