BENGALURU: Congress is leading in the Karnataka assembly elections. As per latest reports, Congress is leading in 118 seats, BJP in 73 seats and JD(S) in 27 seats. Congress received more votes in Old Mysuru region which was said to be a strong centre of JD(S). Congress also gained an upper hand in Bombay Karnataka and Hyderabad Karnataka.
The lead changes every minute in the counting. Although BJP was leading while counting the postal votes, the lead level of both the parties became close during counting of EVM votes. The Congress started leading from the second stage of the counting. They were able to maintain the lead in Hyderabad Karnataka, Bombay Karnataka and Central Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Jagadish Shettar who left BJP and joined Congress is trailing, BJP candidate Mahesh Tenginakai is leading in the constituency.
But JD(S) is suffering a huge setback in Karnataka as the counting progresses. Currently they are only leading in 25 seats. It is assessed that the votes from the strong centres of the party shifted to Congress.
