Chandigarh: On account of the controversial reference in the Karnataka election manifesto, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has received a notice by the Punjab court. The court has summoned Kharge in ₹100 crore defamation case filed by Hitesh Bhardwaj, founder of Hindu Suraksha Parishad.
The case was filed after the Congress manifesto compared the Bajrang Dal to anti-national organisations. In addition, Congress also promised to impose a ban on Bajrang Dal after coming into power in Karnataka.
In connection to this case, Kharge is directed to appear before the court in Sangrur on July 10.
