New Delhi: Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra sets another historical record by becoming number one in the men’s javelin throw rankings issued by World Athletics. With this, 25-year-old Indian Neeraj Chopra pushes current world champion Anderson Peters to second place.
Chopra tops the charts with a point of 1455, while Grenada’s Peters has a point of 1433. Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic is in third place with 1416 points.
Neeraj’s impressive performance in the 2023 season has catapulted him to the top of the world rankings. At the Diamond League event held in Doha, he threw a distance of 88.63 metres to win the event. The second match of this Diamond League season will be held in Morocco on May 28.
Neeraj will next compete in the FBK Games in the Netherlands on June 4, followed by the Paavo Nurmi Games on June 13 in Turku, Finland.
Earlier, athletes Lalita Babar (long-distance runner) and Shaili Singh (long jump) held first place in World Athletics rankings in their respective fields.
