Srinagar: In a strong show of support, several leaders and activists of Jammu and Kashmir came out in open support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the new Parliament building reported ANI.

Noticeably, spokesman of Ghulam Nabi Azad’s party Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) also stated the party’s support.

A socio-political activist, Adil Hussain, told the news media that the new Parliament building is the temple of democracy and a very proud thing for all including the opposition. He told that politics should not be done on this.

The spokesman of DPAP, Firdous, said that this is not a big issue as the opposition has been portraying and dubbed the opposition parties behavior as “childish”. The spokesperson also said that an agenda should not be made out of this as this new Parliament building has a vision. He also added that the inauguration should be welcomed with open arms and it is not right to disrespect the Prime Minister.

The Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation said that the people are not interested in trivial issues. He said that the PM has the right to inaugurate the temple of democracy as he is the elected representative of the people. He also added that the project became possibility because of the dedication and passion of the Prime Minister.

A total of 21 opposition parties have announced that they will boycott the PM’s decision to preside over the inauguration ceremony instead of the President.

Meanwhile, the government has received a list of 25 political parties that will attend the inauguration ceremony. Some parties are not part of the NDA.

The inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building will be held on May 28.
