Gorakhpur: Boosting the morale of farmers of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today made history when he launched the Pradan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yogna (PM-KISAN). Under the scheme, Rs. 6000 will be transferred annually to the bank accounts of farmers with less than two hectares of land.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the scheme by digitally transferring Rs. 2000 as first installment to 1.01 crore bank accounts with one press of a button.
He said that a total of 12 crore farmers will directly benefit from PM-KISAN Scheme and the first installment of Rs. 2000 will be transferred in the coming days. With an outlay of Rs. 75,000 crore, the scheme is said to be one of the biggest by the Narendra Modi government.
While inaugurating the scheme, the Prime Minister said, “This is your money and no one will take it from you.”
The scheme cuts off middlemen from the equation by depositing money directly into the bank accounts of farmers thus ensuring that it fully reaches the beneficiaries.
Narendra Modi warned States not to politicise the scheme and asked them not to misdirect farmers from receiving the benefits of this scheme.
The PM-KISAN Scheme was earlier announced in the Interim Budget 2019-20.
