Guwahati: On Monday, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw lauded the growth and development that were brought to the country during the nine years of the Modi government. The minister said that the country has changed ever since 2014, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power for the first time.
The Minister added, “There had been a different picture of politics in India for 60 years. In this picture, the needy, poor and the northeast were considered just a vote bank. The poor were always made to feel miserable. They just gave slogans but did not work like that. The change came about in 2014 when PM Modi took the nation’s responsibility.”
Minister Vaishnaw also said that “He changed the picture from politics to service. Everything became easy for people and that got possible because of his good governance. He brought about a sustained change by his Gareeb Kalyan Niti.”
The Minister was speaking to media persons before the launch of the Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express at the Guwahati railway station, where he also added how the Modi Government has allocated ₹10,200 crores for the railways, where earlier it was just ₹2,000 crores.
The inaugural Vande Bharat train would run from Guwahati in Assam to New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi used videoconferencing to flag off the 18th train in the series.
The PM Modi-led NDA government will complete its nine years on May 30th.
