San Francisco: Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, has again insulted India while on foreign trip. This time, he has insulted the Parliament and the Sengol on his visit to the United States, said a report.
Rahul Gandhi, while speaking at an event called ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ in San Francisco, said that the new Parliament house is nothing but a distraction and the installation of the Sengol was just a drama to divert people’s attention from real issues like unemployment, price rise, and crumbling education system. He also said that communities like Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Dalits are feeling attacked and that there is spread of anger and hatred.
On May 28, the Prime Minister of India inaugurated the new Parliament building and installed the Sengol, a symbol of power transfer and justice near the Speaker’s chair. The inauguration on the new Indian Parliament was filled with Indian traditions and rituals that highlighted Indian culture. There was also an all faiths prayer meeting to mark the inauguration.
However, the opposition, led by Congress and comprising about twenty parties boycotted the ceremony saying that the Parliament building ought to have inaugurated by the President of India.
Rahul Gandhi is on a three-city tour of the United States. His first stop was San Francisco, from where he made this statement against the Parliament. His next two destinations are Washington DC and New York. The Congress leader has previously also come under criticism for using foreign soil to insult the country and the government.
