New Delhi: A report said that founder of OpenAI, Sam Altman, visited Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and discussed the tech ecosystem in India on his two-day visit to the country. Modi, in a tweet, said that the potential of AI in enhancing India’s tech ecosystem is vast. The Prime Minister also said that the country welcomes all collaborations that can accelerate the digital transformation for empowering the citizens.
The report said that Narendra Modi and Sam Altman spoke about the various prospects of India in implementing AI in its core operations and industries. They also discussed about the AI’s efficacy in nourishing the tech ecosystem, said the report.
Sam Altman, after his meeting with the PM, tweeted, “Great conversation with @narendramodi discussing India’s incredible tech ecosystem and how the country can benefit from AI. Really enjoyed all my meetings with people in the @PMOIndia.”
Altman reached India as part of his six-nation tour. The countries included in his itinerary are Israel, Jordan, Qatar, the UAE, India, and South Korea. He visited the IIT Delhi yesterday.
The report said that the meeting with India’s PM is significant considering the fact that India is considered a potential consumer of AI. It comes at a time when India will introduce the Digital India Bill, which will have implications on the development and implementation of Artificial Intelligence, said the report.
OpenAI is company that deals with AI technologies and has created ChatGPT, which is making waves across the world since its launch on 30 November, 2022.
