Chennai: Former MP and AIADMK leader V. Maitreyan has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Maitreyan, who previously represented AIADMK in the Rajya Sabha, was warmly welcomed into the BJP fold by national general secretaries Arun Singh and CT Ravi at a programme held at the party’s headquarters.
Expressing his confidence in the BJP’s prospects, Maitreyan stated that the party would emerge victorious in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024 as well as the assembly elections in 2026 in Tamil Nadu. He lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasising that the name ‘Narendra Modi’ symbolises the mission and vision of a resurgent India that is rapidly progressing in diverse domains.
While Arun Singh, one of the BJP’s national general secretaries present at the event, highlighted the strong appeal of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. He also added that the farmers and the unprivileged consider the Prime Minister as their saviour. Maitreyan is the son of K.R. Vasudevan, a renowned freedom fighter.
