New Delhi: IPS Officer Nitin Agarwal of the Kerala cadre has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) by the Central Government. Currently serving as the Additional DG of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Agarwal, belonging to the 1989 batch of IPS officers, has been chosen for the prestigious position.
According to an official notification from the Central Home Ministry, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its approval to the Ministry of Home Affairs’ proposal for appointing Nitin Agarwal as the Director General of the BSF. Agarwal will assume the role with pay at Level-16 of the Pay Matrix from the date of joining the post until July 31, 2026, which is either the date of his superannuation or until further orders are issued, whichever comes earlier.
This appointment comes five months after Pankaj Kumar Singh retired in December 2022, leaving the office of BSF DG vacant.
