New Delhi: The Aam Admi Party (AAP) today dumped Congress by announcing its six candidates for the Lok Sabha elections signalling that the party would not be part of the grand alliance with Congress in Delhi.
Arvind Kejriwal’ AAP was expected to strike up an alliance with Congress to tame the BJP in the coming Lok Sabha elections. The sudden move from AAP comes as a surprise and will upset the electoral fortunes of Congress in Delhi.
Though the top leadership of Congress wanted an alliance with the AAP, it was strongly opposed by Congress chief of Delhi Sheila Dikshit.
Kejriwal decided to go it alone in Delhi after he got ‘tired’ of negotiating with the Congress.
During the 2014 elections BJP had won all the seven seats in Delhi.
