New Delhi: Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, will visit Gujarat’s Kutch on Saturday to evaluate the situation in areas affected by Cyclone Biparjoy. During his visit, the Home Minister will hold a meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other senior officials.
Upon his arrival in Kutch, the Union Minister will commence with an aerial survey of the affected regions, followed by visits to shelter homes to meet with the affected individuals. Shah will then proceed to Mandvi to meet with the people affected by the cyclone. Additionally, he plans to visit the Swami Narayan Temple in Bhuj to review the provisions of food and other facilities provided to those affected.
Cyclone Biparjoy, which originated in the Arabian Sea and traversed along the west coast of India, made landfall on Thursday night, approximately 10 kilometres north of the Jakhau Port in Kutch, Gujarat. Subsequently, the cyclone weakened into a deep depression and is expected to further weaken into a depression, as stated by the Indian Meteorological Department.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) reported the successful evacuation of 127 civilians from Dwarka, including 82 males, 27 females, and 15 children. Additionally, the Gujarat Chief Minister held a meeting at the State Emergency Operations Centre in Gandhinagar to assess the situation in the state following the landfall of Cyclone Biparjoy.
