Mumbai: Posters with image of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray standing with Mughal king Aurangzeb and Prakash Ambedkar were put up in the Mahim area of Mumbai, said the police.
The police said that the posters were put up at night and that there was no information about the people who put up these posters. The police confirmed that the posters have been removed and said that no complaints were received so far.
Police also added that an FIR will be registered against unknown persons if law and order are disturbed. Investigations are going on into the matter.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader and Minister of Education, Deepak Kesarkar said, “Uddhav Thackeray’s new love for Aurangzeb can be seen. Those who are compromising with Hindutva, won’t be forgiven by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.”
The row over Mughal king Aurangzeb began after some youth posted materials on social media glorifying Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan and debasing another community. This led to tension at Kolhapur in Maharashtra.
On June 19, Maharashtra Deputy CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said that no Muslim in India is a descendent of Aurangzeb, and nationalists Muslims in the country do not recognize the Mughal emperor as their ruler.
He had added that there is only one king and that is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Muslims also respect him.
