Yamunanagar: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his ‘market of hate’ remarks, saying his so-called ‘shop of love’ was not needed. Addressing a ‘Gouravshali Bharat’ rally on the completion of nine years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, he said the country’s stature rose under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
Singh praised the Prime Minister for introducing numerous unprecedented schemes, emphasising the transformative impact of these initiatives. However, he took a jibe at Gandhi without explicitly mentioning his name, alluding to the opposition leader’s previous statements during the “Bharat Jodo Yatra.” Gandhi had accused the ruling BJP of spreading hatred and expressed his desire to establish a “mohabbat ki dukan” (shop of love) in the “nafrat ka bazaar”(market of hatred).
In response, Rajnath Singh questioned the existence of a ‘market of hate’ in Haryana, asking where the hate was. He asserted that there was no place for the Congress leader’s ‘shop of love.’ The defence minister also highlighted India’s enhanced credibility on the international stage, mentioning that previously, the country was considered weak and impoverished. Today, however, when India speaks on global platforms, people listen attentively.
Singh further emphasised the BJP’s commitment to fulfilling its election promises, exemplifying the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and the revocation of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. He also highlighted the government’s inclusive approach, asking whether the Prime Minister considered caste or religion when providing essential amenities such as toilets to beneficiaries. He made a similar point about the fair distribution of funds to farmers under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. The Defence Minister’s statements aimed to assert the BJP’s track record of delivering on its electoral commitments.
