New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the Valedictory Ceremony of Delhi University’s Centenary celebrations today. During the event, he laid the foundation stone for three significant buildings within the University premises. These include the Delhi University Computer Centre, the Faculty of Technology building, and an academic block on the North Campus.
In his address, the Prime Minister emphasised how his government’s futuristic-thinking policies and decisions in the education sector have propelled Indian universities to gain global recognition. He highlighted the remarkable increase in the number of Indian universities featured in the latest QS global rankings, which surged from 12 in 2014 to 45 presently. PM Modi also acknowledged the growth of prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIMs, AIIMS, and NITs across the country, considering them fundamental elements for building the new India.
Reflecting on his recent visit to the United States, PM Modi shared that India’s global reputation and prestige have grown due to its capabilities and the world’s faith in its young population.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister undertook a metro ride from Lok Kalyan Marg Metro Station to Vishwa Vidyalaya Metro Station in the national capital, en route to Delhi University. He interacted with fellow passengers during the metro journey, displaying his connection with them.
During the Valedictory Ceremony, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who was also a guest at the event, highlighted the increased responsibility that comes with Delhi University completing 100 years. He commended the university for fully implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) over the past three years, which was done under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Minister Pradhan further emphasised the importance of the moment and urged everyone to fulfil their responsibilities in line with the Prime Minister’s vision.
