New Delhi: Taking to social media, the Prime Minister has given a clarion call to everyone to come out and vote in the Lok Sabha elections. He also called upon celebrities, politicians, industrialists, spiritual leaders, media, etc. to spread the message of voting.
In a series of Twitter messages Narendra Modi urged politicians including Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati, Mamata Banerjee, Kumaraswamy, Akhilesh Yadav, Sharad Pawar, etc. to urge their followers to come out vote.
He requested everyone to make the 2019 Lok Sabha election witness the biggest turnout in the history of India.
Narendra Modi tagged Mohan Lal and Nagarjuna Akkineni and said, “Your performances have entertained millions over the years and you have also won many awards. I request you to create greater voter awareness and urge people to vote in large number. The award here is, a vibrant democracy.”
He also appealed to spiritual gurus like Sri Sri, Sadhguru, Sri M, and Guru Ramdev to inspire their followers to participate in the general election.
In a blog post titled ‘Four Requests for Democracy’, the Prime Minister said that each voter must Register, Check if he or she is in the electoral rolls, Plan well for the voting day and to Mobilize others to come out and vote.
He wrote, “Would you want a situation where something happens in the country that you disapprove of and you are forced to think – because I did not go vote on that day, this unfortunate situation has arisen and the nation is suffering. Spare yourself from that regret and go vote!
