New Delhi: The BJP gave a strong reply to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet critical of Narendra Modi after China used its veto power to block a ban at UNSC against Masood Azhar.
Responding to Congress President’s jibe that the Prime Minister was scared of Xi on twitter, the BJP tweeted that China would not have been at the UNSC seat with veto powers if his grandfather had not gifted it to them.
The BJP added that India is undoing all the mistakes of Rahul Gandhi’s family and assured that India will win the fight against terror.
BJP’s tweet also taunted Rahul Gandhi’s alleged secret meetings with the Chinese.
The tweet said, “Leave it to PM while you keep cosying up with the Chinese envoys secretly”.
In 1953 Jawaharlal Nehru denied a United States offer to India to take a permanent seat at the most powerful UN body – the United Nations Security Council.
Nehru not only declined the offer but also recommended that the seat is given to China. His foreign policy blunder has cost India dearly since then. The Chinese have used their veto power at several occasions against India, the last being the blocking of the ban against terror chief Masood Azhar.
Congress leader Sashi Tharoor in his book ‘The Invention of India’ has clearly stated this episode in post-independence India.
