Mumbai: Six people were dead and around forty injured in the foot over bridge collapse at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus railway station in South Mumbai. Some of the badly injured remain critical at St.George’s Hospital and GT Hospital. The two women dead were identified as Apoorva Prabhu and Rajana Thambe, two nurses from GT hospital, who were on their way to hospital for night duty.
The remaining part of the collapsed bridge was demolished after the rescue operations.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has announced Rs. 5 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to those who suffered injuries.Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief and said that he is deeply anguished by the loss of lives in the accident.
