Lucknow: The Yogi government has once again announced gifts for the people in Ayodhya. As the monsoon season draws to a close, Ayodhya is gearing up to offer cruise and houseboat facilities on the Saryu River for pilgrims and tourists. In preparation for the inauguration of the Ram Temple in January, the government announced on Saturday that one cruise boat will begin operations in October, while two others and a houseboat service will commence in January.
The government statement revealed that one of the cruise boats, named ‘Kanak,’ and the houseboat ‘Pushpak’ are currently under construction and will be ready in time for visitors to witness the magnificent Ayodhya ‘Deepotsava’ from the middle of the river. These cruise facilities will enhance Ayodhya’s status as a world tourist destination.
Besides Ayodhya Cruise Lines, Alaknanda Cruise Lines is also preparing to operate on the Saryu River. Alaknanda Cruise Lines is already active on the Ganges in Varanasi, and their cruise boat for Ayodhya is being built in the city itself, according to the statement. Vikas Malviya, the director of Alaknanda, mentioned that the Ayodhya cruise boat will differ from the one in Varanasi by offering more advanced technology. The double-decker luxury cruise in Ayodhya will be solar-powered to minimise pollution, and it will be built at Guptar Ghat with a length of 25 metres and a width of 8.3 metres. The first deck will accommodate 100 tourists, while the second deck will be an open standing deck for better views.
The Kanak cruise boat is currently being constructed in Kochi, Kerala. Once operational, it will travel between Guptar Ghat and Naya Ghat, covering a distance of 10 km. The cruise boat will feature selfie points, digital galleries showcasing Ramayan-based audio-video content, air conditioning, and a variety of cuisine for guests.
The statement also further highlighted that the central and state governments are collectively working on development projects worth ₹32,000 crore to elevate Ayodhya into a cultural city.
