New Delhi: The Indian Navy revealed today that it had deployed its nuclear submarine INS Chakra as part of the battle group of Aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya at the height of the Indo-Pak escalation following Pulwama attack.
After the ghastly attack at Pulwama which resulted in the martyr of 40 CRPF soldiers, the Indian Navy stopped its Naval exercise TROPEX and swiftly redeployed the battleships for operations in North Arabian Sea.
The combat unit ready for any confrontation with Pakistan included the Carrier Battle Group with INS Vikramaditya supported by nuclear submarine INS Chakra and scores of other naval ships and aircraft.
The Navy said that its superiority in all dimensions forced the Pakistani Navy from venturing into the open ocean and limited their deployment close to the Markran coast.
“A clear and resolute message regarding the operational posture of the Indian Navy to prevent, deter and defeat any misadventure by Pakistan in the maritime domain was also issued during the tri-services press conference conducted on 28 Feb 19,” the Navy statement added.
This revelation gives more credibility to the theory that Pakistan freed Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman fearing strong retaliation from Indian Navy fleets that had moved towards Karachi after Pulwama attack.
