New Delhi: The noose is getting tighter for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s husband Robert Vadra when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought his custody at a special CBI court today.
The ED said that Robert Vadra is not cooperating in the investigation into a money laundering case.
The ED claimed in court, “Robert Vadra is not cooperating despite several opportunities and his custodial interrogation is required.”
The agency said that the offences that Vadra is accused of is grave and could attract a maximum jail term of 10 years if found guilty.
Enforcement Directorate also said, “It is unfortunate that the petitioner (Vadra) has got involved in political mudslinging. His conduct during the course of investigation raises even more apprehensions that he is a key to unearthing the modus operandi and black money.”
The court has posted the further hearing of the case to March 25 and also extended his interim bail till that date and ordered Vadra to cooperate with the agency’s investigation.
Robert Vadra’s questioning in custody will be a great blow to the Congress’ election prospects especially when the party is pinning its hope on Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for its come back in Uttar Pradesh.
Interestingly, Robert Vadra had expressed his desire to join politics in a Facebook post dated February 24 saying, “I feel I should dedicate a larger role in serving the people.”
