NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has initiated legal proceedings against Subhashini Ali, a leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau, for allegedly spreading false propaganda against the RSS regarding the Manipur issue.
The case filed by the RSS accuses Subhashini Ali of making defamatory remarks and violating child rights by using the image of a minor boy inappropriately.
The controversy emerged when BJP Manipur state vice-president Chidananda Singh filed a police complaint against those who propagated the false claim, using his and his son’s photo in RSS uniform. Chidananda Singh, in his complaint to the Director General of Police (DGP) in Manipur, demanded action against Subhashini Ali and others responsible for disseminating the misinformation. He clarified that the minor in the picture alongside him is his own son.
Chidananda Singh asserted that the picture had been taken from his Facebook account and used for the purpose of spreading false propaganda, causing harm to his reputation and that of the RSS. Several individuals shared the picture on various platforms, intending to defame him and the organization.
In response to the complaint, Subhashini Ali posted an apology on Twitter, acknowledging that the information she shared was incorrect. She wrote, “This is incorrect. Sincere apologies.”
This incident is not the first time that left-wing leaders and communists have been accused of disseminating falsehoods about the RSS. In the past, similar instances of misinformation have occurred, leading the RSS to take legal action against those responsible for defamation and falsely implicating a minor under the Juvenile Justice Act.
