New Delhi: In a show of unwavering commitment to transparency and national interest, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Lok Sabha on Monday during the ongoing Monsoon session of Parliament. Urging the opposition party MPs to cooperate and allow the House to function smoothly, Shah expressed his readiness for a discussion on the sensitive issue of Manipur.
Despite facing constant disruptions and sloganeering from the opposition benches, Shah emphasised the importance of shedding light on the truth behind the Manipur issue. He extended an open invitation to the opposition for a discussion, expressing his confusion over their reluctance to engage in constructive dialogue.
“I urge all the respected members of the opposition,” Shah said, “that on this sensitive matter, both the ruling party and the opposition have demanded a discussion. I am fully prepared for it. I cannot comprehend why the opposition is avoiding the discussion. Let the discussion happen, and let the truth be known to the entire country; it is of utmost significance.”
Despite Shah’s sincere appeal, a few opposition MPs continued to disrupt the proceedings, leaving their seats and raising placards with slogans. The Speaker, Om Birla, also called upon the opposition members to cooperate in allowing the House to function smoothly.
Unfortunately, due to the persistent disruptions, the Speaker adjourned the House for the day, with a scheduled resumption at 11 am on Tuesday. The government remains committed to addressing the concerns of the opposition and fostering a conductive environment for meaningful discussions on matters of national importance.
