Mumbai: In a distressing incident on Monday morning, four individuals were fatally shot by a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable onboard the Jaipur-Mumbai Express train in Maharashtra, as it crossed Palghar Station.
The constable, identified as CT Chetan, reportedly opened fire inside the B5 coach of the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express (Train number 12956), targeting four passengers, including an RPF assistant sub-inspector (ASI).
The Western Railway confirmed the unfortunate event and promptly detained the accused constable, along with his weapon. The incident caused the train to halt at Borivali (BVI) station. The RPF has released a statement stating that the firing occurred at 5:23 a.m. on July 31, 2023.
