Bengaluru: A report has come out stating that the jails in Karnataka are turning into centers of recruitment and training of terrorists. Recently, reports came out that some inmates lodged in jails, including Parappana Agrahara jail, are giving leadership to terrorist activities. However, the Karnataka Congress government is ignoring this serious issue even after all the warning signs are there.
The Siddaramaiah Government has not even ordered an internal investigation into the matter. It seems that the Congress government is indirectly supporting terrorist activities in the state.
It is believed that the accused in the Mangalore bomb blast case, Muhammed Sharik, got training in making explosives and handling it from other inmates in a prison. However, Muhammed Shaik said that he learned about it by watching YouTube videos. The former BJP government in Karnataka had asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate the matter.
When the investigation was progressing quickly, the BJP government was replaced by the Congress government. After the change of guard, the investigation seems to have stalled. The government has not responded about this till now.
However, recently, the Nagpur Police found out that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, Afzar Pasha, was the person who gave training to Muhammed Sharik. The Karnataka government has not made any effort to probe further on this information nor has it tried to confirm it.
It was after these incidents that five terrorists, who are associates LeT leader, Thadiyantavide Nazeer, got arrested. It was found that these youths under the leadership of Thadiyantavide Nazeer planned a big terrorist attack in the city.
Nazeer had given training to all the five terrorists in the prison itself. Thadiyantavide Nazeer was arrested in connection with the 2008 Bengaluru bomb blasts. At the time of his arrest he was the commander of LeT in South India.
