New Delhi: Commencing today, JP Nadda, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is set to embark on a three-day journey through West Bengal. His itinerary encompasses participation in a Panchayat State Conference, consultations with the Bengal BJP Core Committee, interactions with Members of Parliament and legislators, and a comprehensive review of preparations for the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
During his visit, Nadda plans to connect with victors from the recently conducted rural elections on BJP tickets, as well as individuals affected by instances of electoral violence. Scheduled to arrive in the city on Friday evening, his visit comes at a critical juncture when the state BJP unit has grappled with internal conflicts, defections following the 2021 assembly elections, and a noticeable decline in vote share during last month’s panchayat polls.
The three-day itinerary commences with a Panchayati Raj Sammelan in Howrah on Saturday. Subsequently, an evening session is designated for discussions with successful candidates from the panchayat elections and those affected by poll-related violence at the Science City Auditorium.
The Eastern Regional Conference, beginning on August 12, will assemble 134 workers and district council members from the Eastern Region, spanning the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha, and Jharkhand.
In the course of his visit, Nadda is also slated to convene with the Bengal BJP Core Group, deliberating on strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. On August 13, prior to the Panchayat Raj Conference, Nadda, along with other prominent figures, including Amit Shah, may pay visits to the families of workers who lost their lives during the Bengal Panchayat elections. Additional interactions with elected representatives and legislators are anticipated.
Nadda’s itinerary also encompasses a visit to Dakshineswar temple, where he is set to partake in a religious ceremony during his stay in the state over a three-day period.
