New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate charge sheet in the AgustaWestland case has revealed very serious offence committed by top Congress leaders in the deal to buy 12 VVIP choppers.
According to the charge sheet Christian Michael who was extradited from UAE acknowledges that he knew Mrs. Gandhi since 1986-87. The charge sheet also says that ‘AP’ mentioned in the hand written diary stands for Ahmed Patel, who is the political secretary of Sonia Gandhi since 2001.
In addition, Christian Michael revealed that ‘FAM’ mentioned in the diary refers to family.
The charge sheet also mentions that the diary contains incriminating evidence against the top most Congress leadership. References to “Italian lady’s son” and “son will be next Prime Minister” points at the high command of the party.
In a dispatch published by the ED it is said, “Meeting at the beginning of the week with regards to the Italian lady’s son. The gentlemen I met knew about our activity and felt we were well placed. Explained that this was well known but that we could not wait any longer. The gentleman confirmed that the son will be next Prime Minister and his power in the party is growing day by day. Hence, the Finance Minister’s extreme anxiety at the son’s phenomenal rise. The son will be asked this weekend to raise this matter with his mother as the mother is certainly not aware of all the facts.”
There are also details that an amount of 70 million Euros were given as bribe to defence officials and top political leaders of that time.
The CBI says that Christian Michael is among three middlemen who tried to swing the deal in favour of AgustaWestland with kickbacks and political influence at the highest level of Congress government. He is the consultant of AgustaWestland/Westland Helicopters with technical operational knowledge of the aircraft, the military bases and the pilots.
