New Delhi: Once again, actor Prakash Raj finds himself embroiled in controversy due to a recent X (formerly Twitter) post in which he mocked the Indian Moon Mission, Chandrayaan 3 and ex-ISRO chairman K Sivan. On Sunday (August 20), the actor took to X and shared a cartoon depicting a figure dressed in traditional attire, pouring tea into the air, which was an indirect jibe at K Sivan. Accompanying the image was a caption that read, “BREAKING NEWS: First picture coming from the Moon by #VikramLander Wowww #justasking.”
As anticipated, this tweet ignited a firestorm of criticism across the social media platform. Prakash Raj faced backlash for his apparent mockery of Chandrayaan 3 and the Vikram Lander, with users schooling him for what they perceived as a belittling of the dedicated efforts of ISRO scientists. Some users also accused him of displaying ‘blind hatred for BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’. Others attempted to explain the distinction between political commentary and actions that impugn national pride.

A user wrote, “There is a difference between hating someone and hating your country. So sad to see this state of yours!”. Another user reacted to his Twitter post and commented, “You have stooped so low.. feel ashamed that you are a fellow countryman !! I am proud of ISRO !! Jai Hind.”
This is not the first time when Prakash Raj created a stir online for his brazen words. The actor has previously been involved in controversies over remarks deemed anti-national on multiple occasions. He has faced repeated criticism for his comments that were seen as disrespectful towards Hindu beliefs.
