Jammu & Kashmir: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has come down heavily on separatist tendencies in the speeches and statements of major political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the Central government will be left with no option to do away with Article 370 and 35A.
The Minister’s sharp remark comes a week after former Chief Minister of the State and National Conference leader, Omar Abdullah, said that the posts of Prime Minister and President of Jammu and Kashmir must be revived.
The Union Minister said, “I want to say it very clearly, if the demand of two Prime Minister is raised, then we are left with no other option except than to scrap Article 370 and 35A.”
He continued, “Those who have led Jammu and Kashmir as chief minister for a long time, they say that Jammu and Kashmir should have a different Prime Minister. I want to ask Congress, I want to ask leaders of all political parties, what’s your view on the statement of that person? What do you have to say? Whether you also want there should be two Prime Minister in India.”
Incidentally, BJP’s election manifesto, which was released earlier today, promises abrogation of Article 370 and 35A of the constitution.
