Communist terrorists’ attack at Chhattisgarh: Kills BJP MLA and four others

Raipur: In a cowardly attack, the communism inspired Naxal terrorists have attacked a convoy in Dantewada district killing BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi, his driver and three security personnel.

Officials told that the convoy was attacked by Improvised Explosive Device (IED). A total of five security personnel were present in the vehicle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the incident and said, ” Strongly condemn the Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh. My tributes to the security personnel who were martyred. The sacrifices of these martyrs will not go in vain.”

While condoling the death of the MLA, the Prime Minister said, “Shri Bhima Mandavi was a dedicated Karyakarta of the BJP. Diligent and courageous, he assiduously served the people of Chhattisgarh. His demise is deeply anguishing. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti.”

What comes as a shock is that the attack comes days before the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. Naxals are intimidating the people to shun the elections and stopping people from participating in the democratic process of the nation.

The BJP leader is said to have not taken the advice of the police while travelling through the Naxal infected area. He had braved the threat of the communists terrorists and was actively involved in the election process.

The incident also reveals the high security threat that communist terrorists are posing to the region. It is to be noted that the Congress, which currently rules the state, had released its election manifesto a few days back. There is wide spread criticism that the Congress manifesto is soft on terrorists and seeks to dilute tough laws like AFSP Act.
