Bengaluru: In South Bengaluru’s Begur area, the Begur Police have taken into custody an individual accused of fatally assaulting his live-in partner using a pressure cooker in the Mico Layout region.

As per reports, the victim, identified as Devi, a 24-year-old originally from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, was allegedly attacked by Vaishnav, the accused, hailing from Kollam, Kerala. Presently, Vaishnav is in police custody and is undergoing questioning by the Bengaluru Police.

The pair shared a history of having studied together in college and subsequently found employment at a private company. Although a recent altercation had transpired between them, leading to family intervention and resolution, tensions persisted as Vaishnav grew increasingly suspicious of Devi.

Tragically, matters came to a head on a Saturday evening when a verbal disagreement between the two escalated. In a fit of rage, Vaishnav reportedly struck Devi forcefully on the head with a pressure cooker, resulting in her untimely demise.

CK Baba, DCP of the South Bengaluru Police, conveyed, “An incident occurred yesterday in the Mico Layout area under the jurisdiction of Begur police station. The two individuals had been sharing a residence for the past two years. Both hail from Kerala, with the deceased being a native of Thiruvananthapuram and the accused from Kollam. Employed in the sales and marketing sector, they had experienced prior disputes stemming from Vaishnav’s suspicions about Devi. On Sunday, another confrontation erupted, during which he struck her with a cooker while she was cooking. A case has been registered under Section 302. The incident took place around 5 pm. According to family reports, they had faced previous conflicts on the family front. Vaishnav has been apprehended, and an ongoing interrogation is underway.”
