New Delhi: As the upcoming G20 summit in Delhi approaches next month, the city’s beautification efforts are in full swing. Officials from Raj Niwas have revealed that an impressive 6.75 lakh flower pots are being employed to adorn the roads and event venues. Key locations set to be transformed with potted plants include Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Dhaula Kuan-IGI Airport Road, Palam Technical Area, India Gate C-Hexagon, Mandi House, Akbar Road Roundabout, and Delhi Gate.
Under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, meticulous preparations are being undertaken to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the national capital. Agencies responsible for executing this task will be determined during a forthcoming meeting, after which directives will be provided for the strategic placement of the potted plants. Over the past couple of months, the lieutenant governor has devoted time to studying the intricacies of beautifying the city. The advancement of this endeavour has been closely monitored, with inspections conducted across various sections of Delhi.
The Forest Department and Delhi Parks and Garden Society have contributed by planting 3.75 lakh saplings. Collaborative efforts are also underway involving PWD, DDA (Delhi Development Authority), NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council), and MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) to uplift the city’s appearance. As of now, a total of 4.05 lakh plant pots have already been positioned along 61 roads throughout different parts of Delhi. The remaining planting work is scheduled to commence in the first week of September.
