Bengaluru: India’s esteemed space mission, Aditya-L1, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing its inaugural orbit elevation. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has officially confirmed the success of this crucial maneuvre. ISRO shared this achievement, indicating that the orbit-raising operation was executed flawlessly through precise control from the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru.

As of now, the satellite is positioned in an elliptical orbit, with its closest point to Earth at a distance of 245 km and its farthest point at 22,459 km from our planet’s surface. ISRO has announced that the subsequent orbit-raising operation is scheduled for September 5th at 3 pm.

The satellite is healthy and operating nominally.

The first Earth-bound maneuvre (EBN#1) is performed successfully from ISTRAC, Bengaluru. The new orbit attained is 245km x 22459 km.

The inaugural orbit-raising process commenced at 11:45 am today, resulting in the satellite’s transition from its initial circular orbit closer to Earth to a more extended hyperbolic orbit. Following this achievement, ISRO plans to execute three additional orbit-raising maneuvres. The probe will remain within Earth’s orbit for duration of 16 days before embarking on a 125-day journey to reach its ultimate destination. The satellite’s target location is the L1 point, situated approximately 1.5 million km away from Earth.
